I just bought the Nabi 2 last night for my son. I successfully installed the Amazon App Store, Netflix and a few other apps but haven't figured out how to install Google Play (Android Market) to make it work. I installed the the Google Play apk but the app force closes every time I try to open it. Does anyone have any idea how to get Google Play to work on the Nabi 2? Also, are there any root methods that work for the Nabi 2? Thanks in advance!

I have gotten G-Mail to work, but have the 'greyed' wifi icon and Play Store will crash. They both require Google Services Framework, I got version 2.2.1 from 4shared. Like I said though, with the greyed out and not blue wifi icon the Play Store crashes when you try to install anything...

Okay, so with Google Services Framework 2.3.3, G-Mail 4.0.5, and Play Store 3.7.13 I can read my G-Mail and look at my Play Store account but can't install anything.
It is a security issue, the 'greyed' out icon, but I don't know enough about android to figure it out...

Still no joy on Google Play Store and some other stuff that requires security to be active, however I have found that with just the G-Mail working I can sideload apps that I have already downloaded/purchased ( by manually extracting and installing from an existing Titanium Backup ) from the Play Store and both licensing and data downloading work.

Thanks for your help! I'll give that a try. I have tried several versions of the google market apk with no luck. I read in a post for other android tablets, that if you copy the apk to the /system/app directory that it will install and work properly. However, this requires root access, which I don't have. I have a feeling that a working root method will come out eventually. Do you know how to root the Nabi 2?

There is a Android techie Fan-A-Tech currently working on this. There is other android app markets out there that can be installed for now that do not require modifying the tablet.

I have tried to find a way to get Google Play to work myself on my new Nabi 2 running ics 4.0.4 but have not had any luck either. If anyone has figured this out, I would love to hear how to do it.

I was also able to get to the point where I can browse the Google Play store. But once you try and install anything, Google Play force closes and the only way to get back into google play is to go into the Settings->Apps and clear out the cached data for Google Play.
I installed Google Play 3.7.15 and Google Services Framework 2.3.4. Then a reboot was necessary to be able to sync my account to Google Play.
I hope making Google Play fully functional will be possible without having to root it.
